Did you know that hackers are highly likely to target a group of small businesses in one major attack? Enterprise companies aren't the only possible victims on the target list anymore.
In fact, due to a rise in the effective management of security for enterprise businesses, small businesses are often easier targets for attackers. Further, certain vulnerabilities continue to arise from the thoughts and operations of the small business stakeholders who don't believe IT security could be a problem they must address.
But it is. And it isn't just the standard phishing email of which you must be aware. A vast variety of threats, including ransomware and mobile malware, have the potential to plague a small business and cripple operations. One successful attack can steal valuable time from innovation and production, and cause you to lose customer trust.
Finding the Right IT Security Solutions
Fortunately, there are measures you can take today to help your organization become both quickly and progressively less vulnerable.
You can start by examining your own and your business's attitude toward IT security, then move forward by identifying commonalities among threats that may be of concern. Finding those commonalities can allow you to design or find solutions to conquer multiple threats, rather than just those that address one threat at a time.
Awareness training for employees, for example, can be incredibly effective against many threats when it's properly executed. Other, less extensive programs or initiatives can also provide fixes for some of your biggest IT security concerns, but won't be able to make an impact without employee knowledge guiding their implementation and success.
You can find out more about what threats small businesses face today, what beliefs you should leave behind and how employee education can make a massive impact in our newest ebook: IT Security Isn't Only an Enterprise Problem: How Small Businesses Can Protect Themselves Today.
